How to Draw a Thumbtack
Draw a thumbtack in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pin head.
Step 1: The pin head
Draw a wide flat oval up high. From each end draw a line down, then join them with a curve.
Tip Make it big, the face goes on the front.
Step 2: Two big eyes
On the pin head draw 2 big egg eyes. Add a black dot and a shine in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile. Add a small oval cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The collar
Under the pin head, leaving a small gap, draw a wide flat oval for the collar.
Step 5: The neck
Draw 2 short straight lines from the bottom of the pin head down to the collar.
Step 6: The cork board
Well under the collar draw a straight line across the paper, from edge to edge, for the cork board.
Step 7: The needle
From under the collar draw 2 lines getting closer, down to the cork board line, for the needle.
Tip The sharp point is hidden inside the cork.
Step 8: A shine
On the left of the top oval draw 1 short curve, for a shine.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 4 small sparkles in the air around the pin, not touching it.
Step 10: Tan cork
Go over your lines, then colour the cork board tan, all the way to the edges.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, grey needle
Colour the cheeks pink and the needle grey.
Step 12: Red pin
Colour the pin head, neck and collar red, around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
