10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a thumbprint cookie in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a round plate.

Print

  1. Step 1: A round plate

In the middle of your paper draw a big round plate, as wide as your hand.

  2. Step 2: The rim

Draw a second round a finger inside the plate, for the rim.

  3. Step 3: The first cookie

At the top left of the plate draw a round cookie, about a thumb and a half across.

Tip Thumbprint cookies get a thumb dent in the middle, filled with jam.

  4. Step 4: The middle cookie

Draw a slightly bigger round cookie in the middle, tucked behind the first one.

  5. Step 5: The last cookie

Add a smaller round cookie at the bottom right, tucked behind the middle one.

  6. Step 6: Jam dents

In the middle of each cookie draw a smaller wobbly round, less than half as wide.

  7. Step 7: Crumbs

Draw 2 small crumbs on the plate: one at the left and a smaller one at the top right.

  8. Step 8: Sky plate

Go over your lines. Colour the plate sky blue, going around the cookies and crumbs.

  9. Step 9: Tan cookies

Colour the cookies and the crumbs tan, going around the jam dents.

  10. Step 10: Red jam

Colour the jam dents red. Done!
