How to Draw a Thoth
Draw a thoth in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: ibis head.
Step 1: Ibis head
Near the top draw an egg on its side, pointed end on the left. Leave room above for a moon.
Tip Thoth has the head of an ibis, a wading bird, and the body of a person.
Step 2: Curved beak
From the head's pointed end draw a beak curving down to a sharp point. Add a mouth line.
Tip Make the beak wide at the head and thin at the tip.
Step 3: Big eye
High up near the beak draw an egg-shaped eye. Colour a big black dot in it and leave a shine.
Step 4: Crescent moon
On top of the head draw a thin moon lying on its back, like a bowl with 2 points.
Tip Thoth is a god of the moon and of writing.
Step 5: Round moon
Draw a round moon sitting in the bowl. Its top peeks up above the 2 points.
Step 6: Headdress
Draw a cloth round the back of the head, down to a flap. Add a matching flap under the beak.
Tip Both flaps end at the same height.
Step 7: The tunic
Start under the left flap. Draw a T-shirt shape with short sleeves and stop under the right flap.
Step 8: Broad collar
From flap to flap under the neck draw a curve. Draw a deeper curve under it for a wide collar.
Step 9: Arms and hands
From each sleeve draw an arm that gets thinner to the wrist and ends in a round hand.
Tip Keep the hands away from the kilt.
Step 10: Kilt and belt
Start at the tunic's left corner. Draw a round kilt, stop at the right corner. Add a belt and tab.
Step 11: Legs and sandals
From the kilt draw 2 legs down to the ankles. Add a flat sandal under each and a ground line.
Step 12: Yellow gold, peach skin
Colour the thin moon, collar, belt, tab and sandals yellow. Colour the neck, arms and legs peach.
Step 13: Blue headdress
Colour the headdress blue: the cloth behind the head and the flap in front.
Tip Leave the round moon, the tunic and the kilt white.
Step 14: Green head, grey beak
Colour the head green and the long beak dark grey. Leave the eye white. Thoth is done!
