How to Draw a Texas Map
Draw a Texas map in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top box.
Step 1: The top box
Start left of the middle. Draw a tall line up, then right, then a short way down. Stop there.
Tip This tall box is the top of Texas. People call it the Panhandle.
Step 2: The wiggly river
Carry on from there. Draw a wiggly line to the right, sloping down a little. Stop near the right side.
Tip A river makes this wiggly edge.
Step 3: The east side
Carry on from there. Draw straight down, then bulge out to the right and back in. Stop halfway down.
Step 4: The coast
Carry on from there. Draw a big curve to the left, then down. Stop at a point at the bottom.
Tip This curve is the coast, where Texas meets the sea.
Step 5: The bottom tip
Start at that point. Draw a bumpy line climbing up and left, over a hump, then down to a point.
Tip This long edge is a river too. Mexico is on the other side.
Step 6: The west corner
Start at that point. Draw a line climbing up and left. Stop level with the bottom of your first line.
Step 7: Close the shape
Start where you stopped. Draw a straight line across to the right. Stop where your first line began.
Step 8: Two mountains
In the west corner draw 2 triangle mountains, one a little lower than the other.
Step 9: A river
Start under the wiggly edge. Draw a wavy river down and right. Stop at the coast.
Step 10: The capital star
Just below the middle of Texas, left of the river, draw a star for the capital city.
Tip Texas is called the Lone Star State.
Step 11: Green land
Go over your lines. Colour all the land green, around the mountains and the star.
Step 12: Brown and red
Colour the 2 mountains brown and the star red. Your map of Texas is done!

Your finished drawing
