How to Draw a Tangram Cat
Draw a tangram cat in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body.
Step 1: The body
Draw a ground line. On it draw a wide triangle, point up, with a line from the point straight down.
Tip A tangram is flat pieces put together to make a picture.
Step 2: The head
On top of the body draw a diamond head. Its bottom corner sits a little way over the body's point.
Step 3: 2 big eyes
In the middle of the diamond draw 2 round eyes close together. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: A smile
Under the eyes draw a small U smile. Start under the left eye and stop under the right eye.
Step 5: 2 ears
On each upper edge of the diamond draw a small triangle ear pointing up. Leave a gap between them.
Step 6: The chest
Draw a straight line from the head's left corner down to the body. The triangle it makes is the chest.
Step 7: The tail
From low on the back slope, draw a 4-sided tail slanting up and out, then back to the bottom corner.
Step 8: 2 sparkles
Draw 2 small sparkle stars in the sky, one up on each side of the cat.
Step 9: Yellow and pink
Go over your lines. Colour the 2 sparkles yellow and the 2 ears pink.
Step 10: Orange head, green chest
Colour the head orange around the eyes, and the chest green. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Teal tail, blue body
Colour the tail teal and the 2 body triangles blue. Your tangram cat is done!
