How to Draw a Tagine

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a tagine in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cone lid.

Print

  1. Step 1: The cone lid

Above the middle draw a tall pointy cone for the lid, its bottom edge dipping down like a smile.

Tip A tagine is a clay dish with a tall cone lid for the stew.

  2. Step 2: The knob

On the very point of the cone draw a small round knob, tucked behind the point.

  3. Step 3: The dish

Draw a wide oval rim round the cone's bottom, then a shallow U under it, from end to end.

Tip Stop the oval where it meets the cone, so the lid sits inside the dish.

  4. Step 4: A lid band

Draw 2 bowed lines across the cone, a bit below its middle, from edge to edge.

  5. Step 5: Dots in the band

Inside the band draw a row of 5 small dots, spaced out evenly and following the curve.

  6. Step 6: Dish band

Across the bowl draw one bowed line from side to side, making a band under the rim.

  7. Step 7: Steam

Above the knob draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up, one each side of it.

  8. Step 8: The table

Draw a table line under the dish from well left to well right, just touching its bottom.

  9. Step 9: Clay dish and lid

Go over your lines, then colour the cone, the knob and the dish ginger, going around the bands.

  10. Step 10: Teal bands and dots

Colour the lid band and the dish band teal, leaving the dots pale. Your tagine is done!
