How to Draw a Sundae

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a sundae in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bowl.

Print

  1. Step 1: The bowl

A little below the middle, start on the left. Draw a big shallow U down and up to the right.

Tip As wide as your hand. A sundae bowl is a wide glass cup.

  2. Step 2: The rim

Join the top ends with a flat oval for the rim, going all the way round.

  3. Step 3: Stem and ground

Start under the bowl. Draw 2 short lines flaring down into a flat foot. Add a ground line under it.

  4. Step 4: Two scoops

Draw 2 big round scoops on the rim. Start the right one where it meets the left, and stop there.

Tip The right scoop is tucked behind the left.

  5. Step 5: Top scoop

Draw a third round scoop on top, tucked behind. Start where it meets one scoop and stop at the other.

  6. Step 6: Whipped cream

Start on the left of the top scoop. Draw a plump hill of cream up and over to the right.

  7. Step 7: Cherry on top

Draw a round cherry on the very top of the cream. Add a short curvy stem coming out of its top.

  8. Step 8: Drippy sauce

Draw a line under the cream. From its left end, drip sauce down over the scoops to the right end.

Tip Rub out the scoop lines inside the drips.

  9. Step 9: A wafer

On the right scoop, draw a slanted box poking up, with 3 short lines across it.

  10. Step 10: Sprinkles

Draw 6 short fat dashes for sprinkles, 3 on each front scoop, tilted different ways.

  11. Step 11: Sky bowl, tan wafer

Go over your lines, then colour the bowl and stem sky blue around the scoops, and the wafer tan.

  12. Step 12: Pink and yellow scoops

Colour the left scoop pink and the right scoop yellow, around the wafer and the drips.

  13. Step 13: Brown sauce, red cherry

Colour the sauce brown and the cherry red, leaving a little white shine. Leave the cream white.
