How to Draw a Sugar Plum
Draw a sugar plum in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the plum.
Step 1: The plum
In the middle of your paper draw a big plump egg standing up, with a tiny dip on top.
Tip Make it nearly as wide as it is tall.
Step 2: The stem
From the dip draw a short stem of 2 close lines going up, leaning a little right.
Step 3: A leaf
From the stem tip draw a fat leaf pointing up to the right. Add a bowed line down its middle.
Tip The leaf is a fat almond, with one vein.
Step 4: The sugar top
Start on the left edge, a little way down. Draw 5 round scallops across to the right edge.
Tip A sugar plum wears a coat of white sugar.
Step 5: The crease
From the sugar edge draw a long line down to the bottom left edge, bowing like a backwards C.
Step 6: Sugar crystals
Below the sugar draw 5 small diamonds for crystals: 3 right of the crease, 2 left of it.
Tip Make them different sizes, and keep them off the lines.
Step 7: Sparkles
Beside the plum draw 3 small sparkle stars: 2 on the left and 1 on the right.
Step 8: Ground and shadow
Under the plum draw a flat oval shadow. Draw a ground line out from each side of it.
Step 9: Yellow sparkles
Go over your lines, then colour the 3 sparkles yellow.
Step 10: Green leaf, grey shadow
Colour the leaf green and the shadow grey.
Step 11: Brown stem
Colour the stem brown.
Step 12: Purple sugar plum
Colour the plum purple below the sugar edge. Leave the sugar top and the crystals white.
Tip White sugar on purple makes it sparkle.
