How to Draw Congee
Draw congee in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
Draw a big wide oval for the bowl top, with a second oval a finger inside for the smooth porridge.
Tip Congee is rice porridge, so the top is flat and smooth, not a heap.
Step 2: The bowl
From the oval's left end draw a deep U under it, up to the right end. Add a short foot.
Step 3: Half an egg
On the left of the porridge draw a tilted oval egg half, with a smaller yolk oval inside.
Step 4: Scallions and ginger
Draw 3 tilted scallion rings on the right, and 2 tiny ginger slivers left of the egg.
Step 5: Table and spoon
Under the foot draw a table line, edge to edge. Right of the bowl draw a spoon lying on it.
Tip The whole spoon lies flat on the table line, so nothing floats in the air.
Step 6: Steam
Above the bowl draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up, one on each side of the middle.
Step 7: The stripes
Under the rim draw 2 bowed stripes round the bowl, each from one side to the other.
Step 8: Teal bowl, cream congee
Colour the bowl and foot teal, leaving the band between the stripes white, and the porridge cream around the toppings.
Step 9: Yellow yolk, green scallions
Colour the yolk and the 2 ginger slivers yellow, and the scallion rings green, leaving the egg white.
Step 10: Grey spoon
Colour the spoon grey. Your congee is ready to warm you up!

Your finished drawing
