How to Draw a Street Lamp
Draw a street lamp in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cap.
Step 1: The cap
Start top left. Draw a dome over, ending on the right. Close it flat. Add a ball on a stick.
Tip Like a little helmet, with the ball on top.
Step 2: The glass box
Start under the cap's left end. Draw a side down, across the bottom, and back up to the cap.
Step 3: Two bars
Draw 2 lines straight down the glass, from the cap to the bottom, so the glass has 3 panes.
Step 4: The flame
Inside the middle pane draw a flame like a teardrop: pointy at the top and round at the bottom.
Step 5: The lamp bottom
Start at the glass's bottom left corner. Draw a shallow tray down, across, and back up to the right corner.
Step 6: The tall pole
From the tray, draw 2 close lines down, stopping near the bottom. Add a curved ring near the top.
Tip A street lamp is mostly pole: the lantern is small and high up.
Step 7: The foot
Start on the ground left of the pole. Go up, slant in, across, slant out and stop on the ground.
Tip Keep it low and wide, like a little hill with a flat top.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line from the foot out to each edge. Add a small grass tuft on each side.
Step 9: Glow lines
A little way out from the glass, draw 3 short glow lines on each side, fanning out.
Step 10: Moon and stars
Top left, draw a moon like a big C with a smaller C inside. Top right, draw 2 stars.
Step 11: Yellow and orange
Colour the glass yellow around the flame, and the moon and stars yellow. Colour the flame orange.
Step 12: Slate lamp
Colour the cap, ball, tray, pole and foot slate grey. Go over your lines and your street lamp is done!
