How to Draw a Storm Chaser Van
Draw a storm chaser van in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tornado.
Step 1: The tornado
On the right draw a tall funnel: a wide bumpy top, bending like an S down to a narrow foot.
Tip Storm chasers drive toward tornadoes to study them. Exciting and a little scary!
Step 2: Dust and stripes
At the foot draw a low bumpy dust cloud. Add 4 swirl stripes across the funnel, following its bend.
Step 3: The van
On the left draw the van from the side: flat roof, slanted windscreen, flat bottom. Leave room for wheels.
Step 4: Wheels
Draw 2 round wheels under the van, one near each end, their bottoms level.
Step 5: Windows and door
Draw a slanting windscreen at the front, a square side window, and an upright line for the door edge.
Step 6: Dome and dish
On the roof draw a round dome. From the roof's back draw a mast up to a tilted bowl dish.
Step 7: The ground
Draw the ground line across the paper under the wheels.
Step 8: Wind and debris
Draw a curved swoosh line on each side of the funnel and a couple of small tilted ovals flying about.
Step 9: Headlight and stripe
Draw a small box headlight at the front. Draw 2 lines along the side, front to back, for a stripe.
Step 10: Yellow light, sky windows
Colour the headlight yellow and the windows sky blue.
Step 11: Sandy dust, orange van
Colour the dust cloud sandy, then the van orange around the windows and headlight. Leave the stripe white.
Step 12: Grey funnel, dark wheels
Colour the funnel, dome and dish grey, then the wheels dark slate. Go over your lines. Done!
