How to Draw a Saint Bernard
Draw a Saint Bernard in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw a big soft egg for the head, fuller at the cheeks.
Tip Leave room underneath for the body and legs.
Step 2: Big floppy ears
Start near the top left of the head. Draw a big soft ear hanging down, back to the head.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Just above the middle of the head draw 2 eggy eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Big droopy nose
Under the eyes draw a big wide oval reaching below the chin. Add a black triangle nose on top.
Tip Make it wide and low: this dog has a big droopy face.
Step 5: Smile and tongue
From the nose tip draw a short line down to a little w smile. Hang a small tongue under it.
Step 6: The body
Start at the left cheek and draw a big C down low. Do the right, then join the ends.
Tip A Saint Bernard is huge: make the body wide and round.
Step 7: Collar and barrel
Under the chin draw 2 sagging curves from the left of the body over to the right. Add a barrel.
Tip The barrel is the Saint Bernard's famous rescue kit.
Step 8: Front legs
From the collar draw 2 long U legs down to round paws, each ending back at the barrel.
Step 9: Paws, tail and ground
Draw the ground and a hill paw at each corner. Add a tail on the right, thin at the tip.
Step 10: Face stripe
Draw 2 lines from the head top down to the big oval, near the middle, not touching the eyes.
Step 11: White patches
Colour the face stripe, big oval, eyes, chest, legs and paws white, pressing softly.
Step 12: Pink tongue, red collar
Colour the tongue pink and the collar red. Go over the black nose.
Step 13: Brown head and body
Colour the head around the white, the ears, body sides and tail brown. Colour the barrel light brown.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
