How to Draw a Spider
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big bun head.
Step 1: Big bun head
Below the middle, draw a big round head, wider than tall, like a bun.
Step 2: Tummy and thread
Draw an egg tummy behind the head. From its top, draw a silk thread up, stopping near the page top.
Tip The head stays in front and stays the biggest.
Step 3: Big eyes
Below the head's middle, draw 2 big round eyes almost touching. Add a tiny extra eye dot above each.
Step 4: Smile and fangs
Start under the left eye. Draw a wide U smile, stopping under the right. Hang a fang near each end.
Tip The fangs hang down from the smile like 2 short icicles, with the tips above the chin.
Step 5: Top legs
From each side, draw a bent leg up to a knee above the head, then down to a thin point.
Tip Every leg is an upside-down V: fat at the head, thin at the tip.
Step 6: Second legs
A finger under the top leg, draw a bent leg out to a knee, then down to a point.
Step 7: Third legs
Level with the eyes, draw a bent leg out each side: out to a knee, then down to a point.
Step 8: Bottom legs
By each cheek, draw the last leg: down and out to a knee, then down to a point. 8 legs!
Tip The 4 knees on each side fan out like the fingers of a hand.
Step 9: Yellow spot, pink cheeks
Colour 1 round yellow spot in the middle of the tummy. Add 2 little pink cheeks under the eyes.
Step 10: Purple head and tummy
Colour the head and tummy purple around the yellow spot and cheeks. Leave the eyes and fangs white.
Step 11: Purple legs
Colour all 8 legs purple too, right down to the pointed tips.
