How to Draw a Baby Mountain Lion
Draw a baby mountain lion in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
On the left draw a big round head, a little wider than tall.
Tip A cub has a very big head. Leave room on the right for the body.
Step 2: Round ears
On each top corner of the head draw a round ear with a small circle inside.
Tip The left ear is a bit smaller.
Step 3: Big eyes
Above the middle of the head, a little to the left, draw 2 oval eyes with black dots.
Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each eye.
Step 4: Snout and smile
Under the eyes draw an oval snout poking out past the head. Add a black nose and a smile.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the snout.
Step 5: Back and rump
Start behind the right ear. Draw along the back and round the rump. Stop halfway down.
Tip The body is short, only a little longer than the head.
Step 6: Front leg
From under the chin draw the chest, then a short thick leg down to a big paw and back up.
Tip Big paws on short legs make it a cub.
Step 7: Tummy and back leg
Start at the front leg. Draw the tummy, then a back leg with a big paw. Stop at the rump.
Step 8: Far legs
Start on the tummy. Draw 2 more legs peeking out behind the first two, down to the ground.
Tip Only part of each far leg shows.
Step 9: Long thick tail
Start on the rump. Draw a thick tail hanging down that curls up at the tip. Stop on the rump.
Step 10: Toes and ground
Draw 2 short toe lines on each near paw and 1 on each far paw. Add a ground line.
Step 11: Baby spots
Draw 6 small spots on the back and side. Colour them dark brown.
Tip Keep the spots off the legs and the head.
Step 12: Tail rings
Draw 5 lines across the tail. Colour 2 bands and the tail tip dark brown.
Step 13: Cream and peach
Colour the snout cream. Colour the middles of the ears peach.
Step 14: Tawny coat
Colour the cub tan, around the spots, rings, snout and ear middles. Leave the eyes white.
