How to Draw a Flamingo
Draw a flamingo in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: small round head.
Step 1: Small round head
Near the top left, draw a small round head. Start at the bottom and stop short, leaving a neck gap.
Tip Leave lots of room below for a long neck, a body and long legs.
Step 2: Bent bill
Draw a thick bill bending down from the head to a round tip, back to the chin. Add 2 lines.
Tip One line goes along the bill for the mouth. One goes across, near the tip.
Step 3: One big eye
Behind the bill, in the middle of the head, draw a big round eye, black with a white shine.
Step 4: Long S neck
Start at the gap under the head. Draw 2 thin S lines down, spreading apart. Stop halfway down the page.
Step 5: Plump body
Start at the back neck line. Draw a big sideways egg for the body, ending at the front neck line.
Step 6: Teardrop wing
Draw a teardrop wing on the body, point at the back. Add 2 short feather lines up from its bottom.
Step 7: Short tail
Start on the back of the body. Draw a short pointed tail sticking out, back to the body lower.
Step 8: One long leg
Start under the tummy. Draw a long thin leg straight down, with a knee bump and a flat webbed foot.
Step 9: One bent leg
Further back, draw the other leg bent like an arrowhead: down to a knee, then forward to a little foot.
Step 10: Ground and grass
Rule the ground from the left edge to the right edge, under the foot. Add grass at each end.
Step 11: Cream bill, peach wing
Colour the bill cream, from the head to the line near the tip. Colour the teardrop wing a soft peach.
Step 12: Pink flamingo
Colour the head, neck, body, tail and both legs pink, around the wing. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Black bill tip
Colour the end of the bill black, past the little line. Go over your lines, and your flamingo is done!
