How to Draw a Solar Car
Draw a solar car in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long flat body.
Step 1: Long flat body
Across the middle, draw a long, low, flat shape with a round nose on the left and a narrow tail.
Tip Solar cars are very low and smooth.
Step 2: Top edge
Start at the nose tip. Draw a curve along the body, just above the bottom edge. Stop at the tail.
Tip Above this line is the flat top of the car.
Step 3: Cockpit bubble
On the top, near the nose, draw a tall dome with a curved bottom. The driver sits inside.
Step 4: Two wheels
Under the body, draw 2 round wheels peeking out, one near each end. Add a small circle in each.
Step 5: Short panel lines
Start on the top edge of the body. Draw 8 short lines straight down. Stop on the curve below.
Tip Space them evenly.
Step 6: Long panel lines
Start on the first short line. Draw 2 long lines across all the others. Stop at the tail.
Tip Now the top is a grid of solar panels.
Step 7: Headlight and road
Draw a small oval headlight on the nose. Then draw a long road line under the wheels.
Step 8: The sun
High on the right, draw a round sun. Add 8 short rays all the way round it.
Step 9: Yellow sun, light
Colour the sun and the headlight yellow.
Step 10: Orange body
Colour the side of the car orange, under the top edge and around the headlight.
Step 11: Sky blue bubble
Colour the bubble light blue, leaving a white shine. Colour the small wheel circles grey.
Step 12: Blue panels, black tyres
Go over your lines. Colour all the solar panels dark blue and the tyres black.
