How to Draw a Skirt
Draw a skirt in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the waistband.
Step 1: The waistband
A hand down from the top, in the middle, draw a long flat box with rounded corners.
Step 2: The twirly skirt
Just in from each waistband end, draw a long slanted line down and out. Join the bottoms with 7 bumps.
Step 3: Swishy pleats
Start at a dip in the hem and draw a gentle line up into the skirt, stopping halfway. Do 2.
Step 4: Knot and bow loops
In the middle of the waistband draw a small oval knot. From each side draw a big fat petal loop.
Step 5: Ribbon tails
Start under the knot and draw a ribbon tail curving down, with a V notch. Do one each side.
Step 6: Polka dots
Draw rows of small dots all over the skirt, shifted like bricks, missing the pleats and ribbon tails.
Step 7: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars around the skirt, one above the bow and one on each side.
Step 8: Yellow polka dots
Go over your lines, then colour all the polka dots yellow.
Step 9: Yellow sparkles
Colour the 3 sparkles yellow too.
Step 10: Teal skirt
Colour the whole skirt teal, around the yellow dots. Leave the bow and ribbon tails for later.
Step 11: Purple waistband and bow
Colour the waistband and the whole bow purple, ribbon tails too. Your skirt is done!
