How to Draw a Ski Lift

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a ski lift in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the seat.

Print

  1. Step 1: The seat

A little below the middle draw a long flat bar lying sideways, round at the front, square at the back.

Tip Leave lots of room above for the arm and cable.

  2. Step 2: The backrest

Start on the seat at the square end. Draw a tall thin upside-down U and stop back on the seat.

  3. Step 3: Arm and cable

From the top of the backrest draw a thick arm up, almost to the top. Add a wheel and cable.

Tip The cable runs right across the paper, touching the wheel.

  4. Step 4: The skier

On the seat draw the skier's body: up to the shoulders, a lap forward to the knees. Add a head.

Tip Big head, small body, knees forward.

  5. Step 5: Face and hat

On the right of the head draw a big egg eye, a nose bump and a smile. Add a beanie.

  6. Step 6: Safety bar

From the backrest draw a thin bar across the skier's lap, round a corner and down to the seat.

  7. Step 7: Footrest and boots

From under the seat front draw a thin footrest bar. Hang 2 legs down to boots resting on it.

  8. Step 8: Arm and mitten

From the skier's shoulder draw a bent arm down to a round mitten resting on top of the safety bar.

  9. Step 9: A pair of skis

Under each boot, start on the footrest and draw a thin ski down to a round tip, and back up.

  10. Step 10: Snowy mountains

Along the bottom draw 3 soft mountain peaks from one side of the paper to the other. Add snow lines.

Tip Leave a gap between the skis and the peaks.

  11. Step 11: Peach face, yellow skis

Go over your lines. Colour the face peach and both skis yellow. Leave the eye and the hat band white.

  12. Step 12: Grey mountains and bars

Colour the mountains stone grey, leaving the snow caps white. Colour the chair's arm, the wheel and both bars grey.

  13. Step 13: Blue skier, red chair

Colour the hat, jacket, mitten and legs blue, around the bar. Colour the chair and boots red, around the legs.
