How to Draw a Mining Truck

Step 1: Nose and frame

Start low left. Go up a tall nose, along a short deck, down a step, then far right. Stop low.

Tip A long flat slab with a tall nose, like a giant brick.

Step 2: Wheel arches

Start where you stopped. Draw a big arch, a flat belly, another big arch, then stop under the nose.

Step 3: Big headlight eye

On the tall nose, a finger below the deck, draw a big headlight eye. Add a pupil and a shine.

Step 4: Smile, cheek and bumper

Under the eye, draw a small U smile. Add an oval cheek beside the eye and a front bumper.

Step 5: Giant tyres

Under each arch, draw a giant tyre with a gap of air above. Add a hub with a dot.

Tip Each tyre is taller than the frame, with a hub about half as wide.

Step 6: Tiny cab

Start on the deck. Draw a tiny cab up, over and back down to the deck. Add a window inside.

Tip Keep it small, about as wide as a tyre, under the giant bed's roof.

Step 7: Giant bed

Behind the cab, draw a giant bed: tall front wall, roof jutting over the cab, long flat top, slanted back.

Tip The bed is most of the truck; its roof is like a cap brim.

Step 8: Ladder, rim and ribs

Draw a ladder up the front wall, a rim under the top from end to end, and 2 ribs below.

Step 9: Rocks in the bed

Along the top of the bed, draw 3 rocks peeping up over the edge, a big one in the middle.

Step 10: Road line

Draw one straight road line under both tyres, from the bumper to the back of the bed.

Step 11: Colour the truck yellow

Go over your lines. Colour the body and cab yellow and the cheek pink. Leave the headlight eye white.

Step 12: Sky window, grey bits

Colour the window sky blue, leaving a white shine. Colour the hubs, bumper and rocks light grey.

Step 13: Slate bed

Colour the giant bed slate grey, roof and all, from the top edge down to the frame.

Step 14: Black tyres

Colour the 2 giant tyres black, going around the grey hubs.
