How to Draw a Shoelace Bow
Draw a shoelace bow in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the shoe.
Step 1: The shoe
Low on your paper draw a shoe from the side, toe on the left, with a bump for the tongue.
Tip 2 loops, 2 tails and a knot: that is a shoelace bow.
Step 2: Two eyes
On the toe draw 2 round eyes, 1 eye apart. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a white shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a small U smile, and a small oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 4: Toe cap
Behind the face draw a curved line from the top of the shoe down to the sole.
Step 5: Collar line
From the front of the tongue draw a gently wavy line back to the heel.
Step 6: Eyelets
On the side, below the tongue, draw 4 little rings: 2 low and 2 higher.
Step 7: X laces
Join the rings with 2 laces in an X. From the top rings, draw 2 laces meeting on the tongue.
Step 8: Knot and loops
Where the laces meet, draw a round knot. From it draw a fat loop out each side, like rabbit ears.
Step 9: Two tails
From under the knot draw 2 lace tails hanging down beside the laces, getting thinner.
Step 10: Sole and ground
Draw a straight line along the bottom of the shoe for the sole, and a ground line under it.
Step 11: Yellow bow
Colour the knot, loops and tails yellow.
Step 12: Grey sole, pink cheeks
Colour the sole grey and the cheeks pink. All tied up!
Step 13: Blue shoe
Go over your lines, then colour the shoe above the sole blue, around the face, laces and bow.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
