How to Draw a Shape House
Draw a shape house in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a big square.
Step 1: A big square
Draw a ground line. In the middle draw a big square standing on it, for the walls.
Tip This house is built from shapes: squares, a triangle, rectangles and a circle.
Step 2: A triangle roof
On top of the square draw a big triangle roof, a little wider than the square, pointing straight up.
Step 3: A rectangle chimney
On the right slope of the roof draw a tall thin rectangle chimney. Its sides stop at the roof.
Step 4: A rectangle door
In the middle of the square draw a tall rectangle door standing on the ground. Add a small round knob.
Step 5: 2 square windows
Draw a small square window on each side of the door, up near the top of the walls.
Tip Keep both windows the same size and the same height.
Step 6: Window panes
Draw a plus in each window. Start each line on one edge and stop on the edge across from it.
Step 7: A circle sun
In the top left corner draw a circle for the sun. Leave room all round it.
Step 8: Sun rays
Draw 8 short straight rays all round the sun. Leave a small gap between each ray and the circle.
Tip Start with top, bottom, left and right. Then fill the gaps.
Step 9: Yellow sun and door
Colour the circle sun yellow. Colour the rectangle door yellow too, around the knob.
Step 10: Light blue windows
Colour the 2 square windows light blue.
Step 11: Brown chimney
Colour the rectangle chimney brown, down to the roof.
Step 12: Red roof
Colour the triangle roof red.
Step 13: Blue walls
Go over your lines. Colour the square walls blue, around the door and the 2 windows.
Tip Point to each shape and say its name: square, triangle, rectangle, circle.
