How to Draw a Sea Serpent
Draw a sea serpent in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
In the top left draw a big round head like an egg on its side. Leave room for the body.
Tip The head is big: a third as tall as the whole picture.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the head draw 2 big eggy eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Step 3: Nostrils and smile
Under the eyes dot 2 tiny nostrils. From under the left eye draw a wide smile to the right eye.
Step 4: The sea
Low down, draw a long straight sea line from one side of the paper to the other.
Step 5: Curving neck
Below each eye, start at the head and curve a line down to the sea line, like a swan's neck.
Tip The neck dives under the water, so stop both lines at the sea line.
Step 6: Two humps
Right of the neck, draw a big hump, then a small hump, each starting and ending on the sea line.
Step 7: Tail
Past the small hump, draw a tail getting thinner as it rises, with 2 round lobes like a whale's tail.
Step 8: Head spikes
Along the top of the head draw 3 pointy spikes standing up, the middle one tallest.
Step 9: Back spikes
On the big hump draw 3 smaller spikes standing on the hump line, the middle one tallest.
Step 10: Orange spikes
Go over your lines. Colour the head spikes and back spikes orange.
Step 11: Blue sea
Colour the sea blue, from the sea line down to the bottom of the paper.
Step 12: Green serpent
Colour the head, neck, humps and tail green. Leave the eyes white.
