How to Draw a Scarecrow
Draw a scarecrow in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Above the middle of your paper draw a soft round head, about 3 fingers wide.
Tip A soft potato shape, not a perfect circle.
Step 2: The straw hat
Draw a wide flat brim across the head. From the brim draw a tall rounded hump, over to the brim.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Above the middle of the face draw 2 big egg eyes. Add big black dots with white shines.
Step 4: Nose, smile and cheeks
Between the eyes draw a small triangle nose, point down. Add a U smile and a cheek each side.
Step 5: Straw hair
Start on the head under the brim. Zigzag 3 points out and down, stopping on the cheek. Do both sides.
Step 6: The shirt
From the left cheek draw a boxy shirt down, flat across, up to the right cheek. Add a V collar.
Step 7: Two sleeves
Start on each shoulder. Draw a sleeve straight out, a short cuff line down, and back in to the shirt.
Step 8: Straw hands
Start on each cuff and draw 3 straight straw strokes out like a little fan, stopping a thumb out.
Step 9: The post
Under the shirt draw a tall straight post, 2 lines close together, joined at the bottom.
Step 10: Ground and grass
Draw a long ground line across the foot of the post. Add a tuft of 3 grass blades each side.
Step 11: Patch and buttons
On the shirt draw a square patch, 2 stitches across its top and bottom. Add 2 buttons beside it.
Step 12: Yellow hat, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the hat, hair and patch yellow, and the cheeks pink.
Step 13: Tan head, blue shirt
Colour the head and post tan, going around the eyes and cheeks. Colour the shirt sky blue around the patch.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
