How to Draw a Satellite
Draw a satellite in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body box.
Step 1: The body box
In the middle of your paper, draw a box a little wider than tall, with soft corners, for the body.
Tip Leave lots of room on both sides for the wings.
Step 2: A friendly face
In the box, draw 2 big eyes with black dots. Under them, draw a wide U smile, eye to eye.
Step 3: Two arms
From the middle of each side of the box, draw a short straight line out. Stop a thumb away.
Step 4: Solar wings
On the end of each arm, draw a long flat panel, almost as wide as the box.
Tip Both wings are level with the body, like a bird with wings out flat.
Step 5: Panel lines
On each wing, draw 2 lines up and down to split it into 3, and one line across the middle.
Step 6: The dish
From the top of the box, draw a stalk up to a dish: a flat rim over a shallow bowl.
Step 7: Feed and antenna
From the dish, draw a line up to a little ball. Add a slanting antenna at the box's bottom right.
Step 8: Signal waves
Above the ball on the dish, draw 2 short curved lines like a tiny rainbow: the signal beaming out.
Step 9: Stars in space
Draw 3 little sparkle stars around the satellite: 2 up high and 1 down low.
Tip A sparkle star is 4 points joined by curves that dip in.
Step 10: The Earth below
Along the bottom, draw one big gentle curve from edge to edge, bowing up: the top of the Earth.
Step 11: Yellow stars, blue Earth
Colour the sparkle stars yellow. Colour the Earth sky blue, all the way to the paper's edges.
Tip Go over your lines first.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, grey body
Give the satellite 2 pink cheeks. Colour the body and dish grey, around the eyes and cheeks.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Blue wings
Colour both solar wings blue, filling every little square.

Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a satellite, drawn by you.
