How to Draw a Sandbox
Draw a sandbox in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the sand.
Step 1: The sand
Below the middle of your paper draw a wide flat table top: 2 slanted sides and a long bottom line.
Step 2: The bucket
Draw a bucket in the sand on the left. Arch a low handle from rim end to rim end.
Step 3: Bucket eyes
On the bucket draw 2 round eyes a gap apart. Colour a black dot in each with 2 white shines.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye. Add a tiny oval cheek under each eye.
Step 5: The front board
Under the sand draw a long flat plank right across, a finger tall. It covers the bottom of the bucket.
Step 6: Back and side boards
Above the sand draw a thin plank. From each end draw a slanted line down to the front board.
Step 7: The spade
On the right draw a spade standing in the sand: a rounded grip, a thin handle, a wide pointed blade.
Step 8: Sand pile and grass
Start left of the spade, draw a low sand hump, stop right of it. Add grass by each box end.
Step 9: Sparkles and ground
Add 3 sparkles in the air. Draw a ground line under the front board, edge to edge.
Step 10: Sandy sand
Go over your lines, then colour the sand and the sand pile sand yellow, leaving the eyes white.
Step 11: Cheeks and boards
Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the front, back and side boards wood brown.
Step 12: Red bucket, blue spade
Colour the bucket red around the face, and the spade blue. Your sandbox is ready to play in!
