How to Draw a Sand Cat
Draw a sand cat in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left draw a big soft head, wider than tall, with round cheeks. Leave room on the right.
Tip A big head makes it cute: about as big as the body is deep.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big eyes and a tiny nose. From the nose, a line down to a smile. Add whiskers.
Tip Draw 2 whiskers on each cheek, below the eyes.
Step 3: The ears
On each top corner of the head draw a soft triangle ear leaning out, with a smaller triangle inside it.
Step 4: The body
Start at the side of the head. Draw a big bean body to the right. Stop under the chin.
Tip No neck: the head sits right on the shoulders.
Step 5: Two legs
Draw a ground line. Add a front leg under the chest, and a back leg with a round thigh.
Tip Legs are wide at the top, narrow at the ankle, with a round paw.
Step 6: The far legs
Add 2 far legs peeking out: one behind the front leg, one in front of the back leg.
Tip Only draw the parts you can see. Leave a small gap between the paws.
Step 7: The tail
From the back, draw a tail standing up and bending forward. Add 2 bands and a tip line.
Step 8: Sand dunes
On each side of the cat draw a low sand dune, starting and ending on the ground.
Tip Sand cats live in the desert.
Step 9: Colour it sand
Colour the cat and dunes sand, and the ear insides peach. Leave the eyes, nose, tail tip and bands white.
Step 10: Colour the markings
Colour the nose pink, and the tail tip and 2 tail bands slate grey. Your sand cat is done!
