How to Draw a Roman Soldier
Draw a Roman soldier in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg head.
Step 1: Egg head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.
Step 2: The face
Below the middle of the head draw 2 small oval eyes with a black dot. Add a nose and smile.
Step 3: Roman helmet
Draw a helmet, 2 cheek guards to the jaw, and a crest: start on one side, stop on the other.
Step 4: Neck and tunic
Draw 2 neck lines, then the tunic: start at one, stop at the other. Add a belt with 4 strips.
Step 5: Arms
From each sleeve draw 2 lines down for the arm, closer together at the wrist. Stop at the wrist.
Step 6: Mitten hands
Under each arm draw a mitten: start at the outside wrist, round the fingers, stop at the inside wrist.
Step 7: Shield
Over the left arm draw a tall shield: a flat top, 2 sides bowing out, a flat bottom.
Step 8: Legs
From the hem or shield draw 2 lines down for each leg, closer at the ankle. Stop above the bottom.
Step 9: Sandals and ground
Under each leg draw a sandal with a round heel and a long toe pointing out. Add a ground line.
Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, neck, arms, hands and legs peach, with 2 pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Yellow boss, grey helmet
Colour the circle on the shield yellow. Colour the helmet and its cheek guards grey.
Step 12: Red tunic, brown belt
Colour the crest, tunic and shield red, around the yellow circle. Colour the belt and sandals brown.
