How to Draw an Excited Face

Draw an excited face in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, draw a big soft egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room on both sides for two fists.
Step 2: Two ears
Halfway down each side of the head, draw a C ear. Add a small C inside each.
Step 3: Wide shining eyes
In the middle of the head, draw 2 big round eyes. Add a big black dot with 2 white sparkles.
Tip Big dots with sparkles make the eyes shine with joy.
Step 4: High eyebrows
High above each eye, draw a short curved eyebrow like a little rainbow.
Step 5: A huge grin
Draw a wide bowl for the open mouth, corners turned up. Inside, draw a teeth line and a tongue hill.
Tip A wide open grin is happy. A small round mouth would look surprised.
Step 6: Smooth hair
Start above the left ear. Draw the hair up and over the head, down to above the right ear.
Step 7: Parted fringe
From the hair's right end, curve up to a point, then sweep a long curve down to the left end.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the hair.
Step 8: Two bunches
On each side of the hair, near the top, draw a big round bunch with a bumpy edge.
Step 9: Neck and shirt
Under the chin, draw 2 short neck lines and a U collar. Slope a shoulder out and down each side.
Step 10: Sleeves up
On each side, draw a sleeve from the bottom up to chin height. Add a line across for the cuff.
Tip Both arms are bent, with the hands up high.
Step 11: Two fists
Draw a fist on each sleeve. Add 3 finger lines. Start on the inner edge, loop a thumb, stop below.
Tip The thumb is a sideways U folded across the fingers.
Step 12: Pink and peach
Colour the cheeks and the tongue pink. Colour the face, ears, neck and fists peach. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Green top, ginger hair
Colour the shirt and both sleeves green. Colour the hair and the bunches ginger.
Step 14: Red mouth
Colour the mouth red between the teeth and the tongue. Leave the teeth white. Your excited face is done.
