How to Draw a Riding Mower

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a riding mower in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the hood.

Print

  1. Step 1: The hood

Below the middle, on the left, draw a box a bit wider than tall, with the top left corner rounded.

Tip The hood is the front: the mower drives to the left.

  2. Step 2: The floor

From the back of the hood, draw a long low box going right, lower than the hood top.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the hood, draw 2 big egg eyes an eye apart. Put a big black dot in each.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes, draw a U smile from eye to eye, and a small oval cheek beside each end.

  5. Step 5: The seat

On the floor, draw an L-shaped seat: a low cushion, then a tall back rest with a round top.

  6. Step 6: Steering wheel

From the back of the hood, draw a short stick slanting up, with a tilted oval wheel on its end.

  7. Step 7: Two wheels

Under the back of the floor, draw a big wheel with a hub circle. Under the hood, a smaller wheel.

Tip The front wheel sits lower so both touch the ground. Add its hub.

  8. Step 8: The mower deck

Between the wheels, under the floor, draw a long low box hanging down: the deck with the blades inside.

Tip The deck is flat and low: its bottom stops just above the grass.

  9. Step 9: Ground and grass

Draw a long ground line under both wheels. Add 3 grass tufts of 3 blades each, away from the wheels.

  10. Step 10: Tyre treads

Around the big wheel, draw 6 short tread lines pointing in from the edge, evenly spaced like a clock.

  11. Step 11: Yellow hubs, pink cheeks

Go over your lines, then colour both hubs yellow and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Orange body, green grass

Colour the hood, floor and seat orange, around the eyes and cheeks. Colour the grass tufts green.

  13. Step 13: Slate wheels and deck

Colour the tyres slate around the hubs, then the deck, stick and steering wheel. Your mower is ready to mow!
