How to Draw Rhubarb

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw rhubarb in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle stalk.

Print

  1. Step 1: The middle stalk

In the middle draw one long stalk standing up, wide at the ground and thinner at the top.

Tip Rhubarb stalks are long and red; the leaves on top are enormous.

  2. Step 2: Two more stalks

From behind its bottom draw a shorter stalk curving out to the left, and a medium one curving out right.

  3. Step 3: The middle leaf

Over the top of the middle stalk draw a huge wavy leaf, with both sides drooping down past the stalk.

  4. Step 4: Two side leaves

Over the left stalk draw a smaller wavy leaf behind the middle one, and a medium one on the right.

  5. Step 5: Middle leaf veins

From the middle stalk draw a vein up its leaf, stopping near the top, with a shorter vein each side.

  6. Step 6: Side leaf veins

Do the same on the side leaves: a vein up from the stalk, plus one shorter side vein.

  7. Step 7: Stalk ridges

Up the middle of each stalk, draw a thin line from near the bottom to about halfway up.

  8. Step 8: The ground

Draw the ground line from edge to edge, just touching the bottom of the stalks, lifting your pencil across them.

  9. Step 9: Red stalks

Go over your lines, then colour the three stalks red.

  10. Step 10: Green leaves

Colour the three big leaves green, and your rhubarb is done!
