How to Draw a Reindeer Flying

12 steps · Tricky · about 9 min

Draw a reindeer flying in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big round head

Top left, draw a big round head with a soft oval snout bump across the bottom.

Tip The head is about as big as the body is deep.

  2. Step 2: Eyes and red nose

Draw 2 big eyes, then a red nose on the snout. From it, draw a line down to a smile.

Tip Leave a little gap between the 2 eyes, and between the eyes and the snout.

  3. Step 3: Antlers and ears

On top of the head, draw 2 branchy antlers. Add a leaf ear with a leaf inside on each side.

  4. Step 4: The neck

Start behind the head and under the chin. Draw 2 neck lines down to where the body goes.

  5. Step 5: Bean body

From the bottom of the neck, draw a big soft bean body: a long back, a round bottom, a tummy.

  6. Step 6: Front legs reaching

From the chest, draw a front leg bent at the knee, with a round hoof. Add the other behind it.

Tip Each leg tapers like a bent carrot. Give each hoof a little split line.

  7. Step 7: Back legs kicking

From the rump, draw a back leg kicking back with one bend and a round hoof. Add the other below.

Tip Stretched front legs and kicked-back legs show a gallop through the air.

  8. Step 8: The tail

On the top corner of the bottom, draw a little leaf tail pointing up and back.

  9. Step 9: Clouds and stars

Under the reindeer, draw 2 puffy clouds with flat bottoms, one big, one small. Add 3 stars up right.

  10. Step 10: Sand and yellow

Colour the antlers and snout bump sand around the nose, and the 3 stars yellow.

  11. Step 11: Peach and brown

Colour the ear insides peach, then the head, body, legs, tail and ears brown around them. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Slate hooves

Colour the 4 hooves slate grey. Leave the clouds white.
