How to Draw a Red Race Car

Draw a red race car in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: windscreen dome.

Step 1: Windscreen dome
Start left of the middle, under halfway down. Draw a big dome up and over, stopping level with the start.
Tip Round like a ball, about a quarter of the page wide. Leave the bottom open.
Step 2: Eyes and smile
On the windscreen draw 2 round eyes looking left, with a black dot and shine. Add a short smile below.
Step 3: Long low body
From the cheek draw a ramp down to a pointy nose, along the floor over 2 arches, up the tail.
Tip The arches are where the tyres tuck in. The body closes under the dome.
Step 4: 2 huge tyres
Under each arch draw a huge tyre, tucked up snug inside the arch. Add a hub with a dot.
Tip Rub out the tyre line inside the body, so the arch hugs the tyre.
Step 5: Rear wing
Near the tail draw a fin leaning back. Add a long plank on top with a tab at the end.
Step 6: Front wing
Under the nose draw one thin flat plank on the floor line, from the nose back to the front tyre.
Step 7: Sticker and headlight
On the side under the windscreen draw a zigzag lightning bolt. Add a small oval headlight on the very front.
Tip Keep the bolt small, with red all round it.
Step 8: Exhaust pipe
On the back of the tail, just above the floor, draw a short stubby pipe.
Step 9: Road line
Start in front of the car. Draw a long road line under both tyres, stopping behind the pipe.
Step 10: Sky windscreen, yellow bolt
Go over your lines. Colour the windscreen sky blue and the bolt yellow. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Red car
Colour the body, wings, fin and pipe red, around the bolt. Leave the headlight white.
Step 12: Grey hubs, black tyres
Colour the hubs grey around the middle dots. Colour the tyres and the dots black.
