How to Draw a Rafflesia Flower
Draw a rafflesia flower in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle ring.
Step 1: The middle ring
In the middle of your paper draw a circle about as big as a jam jar lid.
Tip A rafflesia is the biggest flower in the world. It can grow as wide as a car tyre.
Step 2: Five lines
Start on the ring and draw 5 lines out like a star. Stop each one a thumb's length out.
Tip Space the 5 lines evenly, like the arms of a starfish. One points straight down.
Step 3: The top petal
Start on the tip of the upper left line. Draw a big round loop over and stop on the next tip.
Tip Rafflesia petals are fat and round, never pointed.
Step 4: Two side petals
Start where the top petal stops. Draw the same big loop out to the next tip down. Do both sides.
Step 5: Two bottom petals
Start on each side tip. Draw a big loop under the flower. Stop on the tip of the bottom line.
Tip Try to make all 5 petals the same size.
Step 6: The hole
Inside the ring draw a smaller circle. This is the deep hole in the middle of the flower.
Step 7: Big spots
Near the tip of each petal draw 1 big round spot. That makes 5.
Step 8: Small spots
Lower down on each petal draw 1 smaller spot. Keep every spot inside its petal.
Step 9: Cream spots
Colour all the spots a pale cream.
Step 10: Orange ring
Colour the ring round the hole orange. Leave the hole white for now.
Step 11: Red petals
Colour the 5 petals red, around the cream spots.
Tip Colour carefully round each spot so it stays pale.
Step 12: Dark middle
Go over your lines and colour the hole dark brown. Your rafflesia flower is done!
