How to Draw a Raccoon

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.

Step 1: Big soft head
Near the top of your paper draw a big egg head lying on its side, with puffy cheeks.
Tip More than half the raccoon: leave room on the right for a tail.
Step 2: Bandit mask
Across the middle of the head draw a mask: 2 fat rounded lobes joined in the middle.
Tip The pinch in the middle makes it a raccoon mask, not sunglasses.
Step 3: Big eyes
Inside each mask lobe draw a big egg eye with a black dot. Leave a rim of mask round it.
Step 4: Pointy ears
On each top corner of the head draw a fat triangle ear with a rounded tip. Add a triangle inside.
Step 5: Nose and smile
Under the mask draw a wide sideways oval. On its top edge draw a black nose and a W smile.
Step 6: Round body
Start on the left cheek. Draw a big C down and along the bottom, up to the right cheek.
Tip The body is narrower than the head.
Step 7: Front legs
Below the chin draw 2 legs, thinner at the ankle, into fat mitten paws on the ground. Add toe lines.
Step 8: Back legs
On each side draw a bun back paw, with a plump C leg above it. Add a ground line.
Step 9: Bushy tail
Start on the right back leg. Draw a smooth fat banana tail up to one round tip, then back.
Step 10: Tail rings
Across the tail draw 5 curved lines like bracelets, from one edge to the other, evenly spaced.
Step 11: Fluffy cheeks
On each cheek below the mask draw 3 soft fur bumps. Start and stop on the head line.
Step 12: Grey fur, cream face
Colour the fur grey around the mask, plus a stripe between the eyes. Colour the muzzle and inner ears cream.
Tip On the tail colour every other band grey, starting at the body.
Step 13: Black mask and rings
Colour the mask black around the eyes and the grey stripe. Colour the other tail bands black.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
