How to Draw a Pug
Draw a pug in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, draw a big soft egg head, flat on top, with fat cheeks and a round chin.
Step 2: Little folded ears
Start high on the head. Draw a small flap ear hanging beside the head and stop lower down. Do both.
Tip Pug ears are tiny velvet flaps that fold forward.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the middle of the head, draw 2 big round eyes far apart, with black dots and white shines.
Tip Huge, wide-apart eyes make the squashed pug face.
Step 4: Snout and nose
Under the eyes, draw a small oval snout. Sit a big rounded triangle nose on top.
Step 5: Smile, tongue and wrinkles
From the nose, draw a line down to a little w smile. Hang a U tongue. Add 2 forehead wrinkles.
Step 6: The body
Start under each ear. Curve down for the body and stop near the bottom. Join the ends underneath.
Step 7: Collar and tag
Under the chin, draw 2 sagging curves from the left side across to the right. Hang a round tag.
Step 8: Front legs
From the collar, draw 2 U legs down to round paws, with a gap between them. Add toe lines.
Step 9: Back paws and tail
Add a hill paw at each bottom corner. From the right hip, curl a thick tail round to a point.
Tip A pug's tail is a tight curl, like a cinnamon bun.
Step 10: The ground
Draw the ground: a long line across under all 4 paws.
Step 11: Colour the fur fawn
Colour the head, body, legs, paws and tail sand, around the snout, tongue and collar. Keep the eyes white.
Step 12: Pink tongue, red collar
Colour the tongue pink and the collar red.
Step 13: Dark mask and ears
Colour the snout and 2 ears dark grey, around the nose and tongue. Colour the nose black, leaving a shine.
