How to Draw a Lark Bunting
Draw a lark bunting in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left of your paper draw a big round head, a little wider than tall.
Tip Leave room below for the body.
Step 2: Fat cone beak
Start on the front of the head, halfway down. Draw a fat pointed beak and stop on the head.
Tip Split the beak with a short line from its tip back to the head.
Step 3: One big eye
Behind the beak draw a big round eye. Fill it with a black dot and leave a white shine.
Step 4: Plump body
Start low on the back of the head. Curve down, round a fat belly, and stop under the beak.
Tip The body is a plump egg hanging under the head, narrower than the head.
Step 5: Fan tail
Start at the back of the body. Draw a fan down and back, and stop on the tummy. Add feathers.
Step 6: Folded wing
Start under the back of the head. Draw a round shoulder, then sweep back to a point above the tail.
Step 7: White wing patch
Inside the wing draw a smaller teardrop, the same shape as the wing.
Tip Keep a gap all the way round, so the patch does not touch the wing edge.
Step 8: Front leg and toes
Under the front of the tummy draw a short leg with 3 chubby toes. Start and stop on the tummy.
Step 9: Back leg and toes
A thumb away from the first leg, draw another leg with 3 toes, starting and stopping on the tummy.
Tip Leave a gap between the 2 feet, at the same height.
Step 10: The branch
Start at the left, just under the ankles. Draw a long branch across to the right, passing behind the toes.
Step 11: Blue beak, grey legs
Colour the beak pale blue. Colour both legs and toes grey.
Step 12: Brown branch
Colour the branch brown, going round the toes.
Step 13: Colour it black
Colour the head, body, wing and tail black, around the wing patch. Leave the patch and the eye white.
Tip Press lightly so your lines still show.
