How to Draw a Dog Digging
Draw a dog digging in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.
Step 1: Big soft head
On the left draw a big soft head, wider than tall, tipping down to the left.
Tip Leave room under it for the hole, and on the right for the body.
Step 2: Floppy ears
Draw a long floppy ear down the right side of the head. A small ear peeks out on the left.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the big ear.
Step 3: Big eyes
Above the middle of the head draw 2 oval eyes with black dots. Leave a white shine in each.
Step 4: Snout and smile
Low on the left draw a snout poking past the head. From its black nose, draw down into a w.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the snout.
Step 5: Ground and hole
Start on the left. Draw a ground line across the page, dipping into a deep round hole under the head.
Step 6: Sloping back
Start behind the big ear. Draw the back rising to a round bottom. Stop halfway down the bottom.
Tip The bottom is much higher than the head.
Step 7: Back leg
From the bottom draw a leg down to a paw on the ground, then up the front. Add 2 toes.
Tip The leg bends just above the paw.
Step 8: Tummy and front leg
Draw the tummy from the back leg, then a leg and paw down in the hole. Stop at the head.
Tip The paw rests on the bottom of the hole. Add 2 toes.
Step 9: Far legs
From the body draw 2 more legs peeking out behind, one lifted, one standing. Add 1 toe to each paw.
Step 10: Wagging tail
Start on the bottom. Draw a tail curving up to a round tip and back down. Add 2 wag marks.
Tip Rub out the back line inside the tail.
Step 11: Flying earth
Start on the ground, draw a little hill of earth and stop on the ground. Add 3 flying lumps.
Step 12: Cream and tan
Colour the snout cream. Colour the dog light brown around it, but not the ears. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Brown ears and earth
Colour both ears brown. Colour the hill and the flying lumps of earth brown too.
