How to Draw a Pretzel
Draw a pretzel in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big loop.
Step 1: Big loop
Draw a thick upside-down U with 2 round bumps on top and a little dip between them.
Tip Keep the dip small, like the top of a heart.
Step 2: The bottom
Join the 2 bottom ends with a fat smile, thicker in the middle, for the bottom.
Step 3: One arm
From the bottom, left of the middle, draw a thick arm slanting up right, stop inside the arch.
Step 4: Other arm
From the bottom, right of the middle, draw a thick arm slanting up left, stop inside the arch.
Step 5: Salt on top
Sprinkle 3 little chunks of salt over the top half of the pretzel, far apart and tilted different ways.
Step 6: More salt
Add 2 more salt chunks lower down, one on the left side and one on the bottom.
Step 7: A shine
Along the upper left edge of the loop, draw a thin curved sliver for a shine.
Step 8: The ground
Draw a ground line from well left to well right, touching the bottom of the pretzel.
Step 9: A shadow
Draw a flat oval shadow on the ground line, right under the pretzel.
Step 10: Ginger pretzel
Go over your lines. Colour the pretzel ginger, going around the salt, and leave the salt and shine white.
Step 11: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow grey. Your pretzel is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a pretzel, drawn by you.
