How to Draw a President

13 steps · Tricky · about 10 min

Draw a president in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and podium.

  2. Step 2: The face

Across the middle of the head draw 2 big eyes with black dots. Add a nose, smile and eyebrows.

  3. Step 3: Neat hair

Start on the left of the head. Draw soft tufts over the top and stop on the right.

  4. Step 4: Neck and jacket

Draw 2 neck lines under the chin. From the left one draw a round-shouldered jacket, stop at the right one.

  5. Step 5: Lapels, tie and pin

From each neck line draw a notched lapel down to a V. Add a tie and a round pin.

  6. Step 6: Long sleeves

From each shoulder draw a sleeve round the elbow to the wrist, then up to the armpit. Add a cuff.

Tip Rub out the jacket line inside each sleeve.

  7. Step 7: Hands

On each wrist draw a fist like a fat egg pointing down, with a thumb bump and a finger line.

  8. Step 8: Podium and seal

Under the fists draw a podium: a flat top behind the fists and a tall box to the ground.

Tip The podium hides the legs, so there are none to draw.

  9. Step 9: Notes and microphone

Between the fists draw a sheet with one line. From the podium draw a stand up to a round microphone.

  10. Step 10: Flags

Behind him draw a pole on each side. Start at head height and go down to the ground. Add flags.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, neck and hands peach, with a pink circle on each cheek. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Grey hair, wooden podium

Colour the hair grey and the podium wood brown, leaving the seal and notes white.

  13. Step 13: Navy suit, red tie

Colour the suit navy and the tie, pin and flags red, leaving the stars white. Colour the microphone black.
