How to Draw a Ploughman’s Lunch
Draw a ploughman’s lunch in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a round board.
Step 1: A round board
Draw a big round board, a hand wide. Add a handle from its right edge, out to a round end.
Step 2: The board's edge
Draw a second round a finger inside the board, all the way round.
Tip A ploughman's lunch is a cold English plate of cheese, bread, pickle and apple.
Step 3: A cheese wedge
On the left of the board draw a big triangle of cheese lying flat, with a long slanted top edge.
Step 4: The wedge's side
Under the triangle's bottom edge draw a thin band for its thick side, from the left corner to the right.
Step 5: Holes
Draw 3 small round holes on the cheese, spread about in a slanted line, different sizes.
Step 6: A bread roll
At the top right draw a round lumpy bread roll, 3 fingers wide, with 2 slanted slashes across its top.
Step 7: A pot of pickle
On the right draw a small round pot with a smaller round inside it for the pickle.
Step 8: An apple
At the bottom, between the cheese and the pot, draw a round apple with a stem and a small leaf.
Step 9: A pickled onion
Bottom left, draw a small round onion with a pointy tip. Curve 2 lines from the tip to the bottom.
Step 10: Lettuce
Start on the cheese's slanted edge near the left corner. Draw 5 frilly lettuce bumps up to near the point.
Step 11: Yellow cheese
Go over your lines, then colour the top of the cheese yellow and its side ginger.
Step 12: Tan roll, brown pickle
Colour the bread roll tan and the pickle brown, leaving the pot white.
Step 13: Apple, lettuce, onion
Colour the apple red, and its leaf and the lettuce green. Leave the onion white.
Step 14: Wood board
Colour the board and its handle wood brown, going around the food.
