How to Draw Planting Seeds

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw planting seeds in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the seed packet.

Print

  1. Step 1: The seed packet

Right of the middle, draw a tall box. Add a flap line across the top, with a tiny side notch.

  2. Step 2: The stick

From the bottom of the packet, draw a short stick straight down: 2 lines close together, pointed at the bottom.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the packet, draw 2 big egg eyes one eye apart. Colour a big black dot in each.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes, draw a U smile from eye to eye, and a small oval cheek beside each end.

  5. Step 5: A flower picture

Near the top of the packet, draw a tiny flower: a small circle with 5 little petal bumps round it.

  6. Step 6: The garden bed

Below the packet, draw a long low hill of dirt. Start low left, rise gently, end low right.

Tip Long and low, like a sleeping whale. The stick goes into the dirt.

  7. Step 7: The furrow

Just under the hilltop, draw a long thin band that curves like the hill. This is the furrow.

  8. Step 8: The seeds

Inside the furrow, draw 4 little oval seeds in a row, spaced out evenly.

  9. Step 9: A sprout

On the left, draw a short curved stem from the dirt up, stopping a finger above. Add 2 fat leaves.

  10. Step 10: Ground and grass

Draw a ground line under the hill, nearly edge to edge. Stand a grass tuft at each end.

  11. Step 11: Yellow packet, tan seeds

Colour the packet yellow around the eyes, cheeks and flower, and the stick and seeds tan. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Pink petals, green sprout

Colour the cheeks and flower petals pink, leaving the middle white, and the sprout leaves and grass green.

  13. Step 13: Brown hill, dark furrow

Colour the hill brown around the furrow, and the furrow dark brown around the seeds. Your seeds are planted!
