How to Draw a Chisel
Draw a chisel in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the handle.
Step 1: The handle
Top left, draw a long handle like a fat pill, as long as your hand, slanting down to the right.
Tip The whole chisel leans like a slide, pushing into the wood.
Step 2: Two big eyes
On the handle draw 2 big egg eyes side by side. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye, and a small oval cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The metal ring
On the handle's right end draw a short box, a little shorter than the handle is tall: the metal ring.
Step 5: The flat blade
From the ring draw 2 straight lines down to the right, as long as the handle, the bottom one longer.
Step 6: The slanted tip
Join their ends with one slanted line, from the top line down to the tip of the bottom line.
Step 7: The plank
Under the blade draw a long flat plank across the paper, its top just touching the blade's tip.
Step 8: Wood curl and ground
Past the blade tip draw a thick wood curl rolling up from the plank, and a ground line below.
Step 9: Grain lines
On the plank draw 2 short wavy grain lines, one on the left and one on the right.
Step 10: Tan wood, pink cheeks
Colour the plank and the wood curl tan, and the cheeks pink.
Step 11: Wood handle, grey blade
Colour the handle brown around the cheeks, leaving the eyes white, and the ring and blade grey. Ready to carve!
