How to Draw a Pine Tree

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a pine tree in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: top tier.

Print

  1. Step 1: Top tier

Near the top, start at a point. Slant down left, draw 4 bumps across, and slant back up to it.

  2. Step 2: Middle tier

Start on the bottom of the top tier. Draw a longer slant down, 5 bumps across, and up to it.

  3. Step 3: Bottom tier

Start on the bottom of the middle tier. Draw a longer slant down, 6 bumps across, and up to it.

  4. Step 4: Trunk

From the bumps under the bottom tier, draw a trunk down, wider at the ground, back up to the bumps.

  5. Step 5: Two pinecones

Hang 2 little egg pinecones, one under a bump of the top tier and one under the middle tier.

  6. Step 6: Pinecone scales

Across each pinecone draw 2 rows of tiny U bumps, from edge to edge, for the scales.

  7. Step 7: Ground

Draw a long ground line under the trunk, a little wider than the tree on each side.

  8. Step 8: Grass

On each side of the trunk, away from it, draw a tuft of 3 short grass blades on the ground.

  9. Step 9: Green tree

Colour all 3 tiers leaf green, around the pinecones, right to the bumpy edges.

  10. Step 10: Wood trunk, brown pinecones

Colour the trunk wood brown and the pinecones darker brown. Go over your lines and your pine tree is done!
