How to Draw a Pickle Jar
Draw a pickle jar in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the lid.
Step 1: The lid
Near the top, draw a flat lid: a wide box with soft corners, as wide as your hand, open below.
Step 2: The glass jar
Start at the lid's bottom left. Draw the jar out over a shoulder, down and round, back to the lid.
Step 3: Lid rim
Draw a line across the lid, a little above its bottom, from edge to edge, for a rim.
Step 4: The middle pickle
Inside the jar, draw a tall fat pickle standing in the middle: a long bumpy oval, round at both ends.
Tip About 3 times as tall as wide. Leave room above for the brine.
Step 5: Two more pickles
Draw a pickle on each side of the first, tucked behind it and leaning out a little, a touch shorter.
Tip All 3 pickles stay inside the glass, under the brine line.
Step 6: Warty bumps
Dot little bumps on the pickles, 4 zigzagging down the middle one and 2 on each side pickle.
Step 7: The brine
Below the lid, draw a gentle wavy line across the jar from side to side: the top of the juice.
Step 8: A shine
Just under the brine line, inside the left side, draw a thin banana shape for a shine.
Step 9: The table
Start well left of the jar and draw a long table line under it, stopping well past the right side.
Step 10: A pickle slice
On the table right of the jar, draw a small circle with a smaller one inside, and 6 tiny seeds.
Step 11: Yellow brine
Colour the brine yellow below the wavy line, around the pickles and the shine.
Step 12: Green pickles
Colour the middle of the slice light green, then the 3 pickles and the slice rim green.
Step 13: Grey lid
Colour the lid grey, and your pickle jar is done!
