How to Draw a Pearl

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a pearl in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bottom shell.

Print

  1. Step 1: The bottom shell

Below the middle, draw a wide bowl: a flat line across the top, then a big U to a point.

Tip Like a fan turned upside down.

  2. Step 2: The pearl

On the middle of the flat edge, draw a big round pearl, with a little shine inside its top-left edge.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the pearl, just below the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes an eye apart, with black dots and shines.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile from the left eye to the right. Add cheeks at each end.

  5. Step 5: The top shell

From end to end of the flat edge, draw a big rainbow over the pearl, then a rim just inside.

  6. Step 6: Shell ridges

From the bottom point, fan 4 lines to the flat edge. Fan 4 more from the edge to the rim.

  7. Step 7: Bubbles

Beside the shell, draw 4 round bubbles floating up, 2 on each side.

  8. Step 8: Sandy floor

Draw a gently wobbly line across the bottom of the page under the shell, from edge to edge.

  9. Step 9: Peach cheeks, sky bubbles

Colour the cheeks peach and the bubbles sky blue, leaving the pearl white. Keep the eyes white.

  10. Step 10: Pink shells

Go over your lines, then colour the bottom shell and the rim of the top shell pink.

  11. Step 11: Purple inside

Colour the inside of the top shell purple, around the pearl and up to the rim. Your pearl is done!
