How to Draw a Peahen
Draw a peahen in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Above the middle draw a loaf-shaped head: a flat top, fat cheeks and a smaller chin. Leave room all round.
Tip Not a circle: flat top, widest at the cheeks, like a loaf.
Step 2: The crown
Start on top of the head. Draw 3 skinny feathers fanning out like a tiara, each with a round end.
Tip Skinny at the head, round at the top, close together.
Step 3: Eyes and beak
Draw 2 big egg eyes, then a triangle beak on the chin with a smile from edge across to edge.
Step 4: The tummy
Start on the left cheek. Draw a big egg tummy down, round, and up to stop on the right cheek.
Tip The tummy is a bit narrower than the head.
Step 5: Short tail tuft
Low on each side of the tummy, draw a short tail tuft with 3 round bumps, back to the tummy.
Tip The tail is short: it only peeks out behind the tummy.
Step 6: Two wings
Start on each shoulder. Draw a long leaf wing down the tummy to a point, and back to the start.
Step 7: Legs and feet
From the tummy line draw a skinny leg down to 3 thin toes, back up to the tummy. Then another.
Tip 2 short legs close together, toes spread wide. Leave a gap between the feet.
Step 8: Belly patch
Level with the top of the legs, draw one U curve across the tummy from side to side.
Step 9: The ground
Start at the left edge. Draw one long straight ground line under the toes, across to the right edge.
Step 10: Cream belly, grey feet
Colour the belly under the U curve cream, and the beak, legs and feet grey.
Step 11: Tan wings, brown tummy
Colour the 2 wings tan. Colour the tummy and the short tail brown, going around the wings and belly.
Step 12: Green head and crown
Colour the head and the 3 crown feathers green, going around the beak and leaving the eyes white.
