How to Draw a Peacock

13 steps · Tricky · about 10 min

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

A bit above the middle draw the head like a loaf of bread: flat top, fat cheeks, smaller chin.

Tip A little wider than tall. Leave lots of room: the tail is huge.

  2. Step 2: The crown

Start on top of the head. Draw 3 stalks fanning out like a tiara, each ending in a fat teardrop.

Tip Three lollipops. The crown is about half as wide as the head.

  3. Step 3: Eyes and beak

Draw 2 big egg eyes and a triangle beak below. From the beak's left edge, smile across to the right.

  4. Step 4: The tummy

Start on the left cheek. Draw a big egg tummy down and round, back up to the right cheek.

Tip A bit narrower than the head, fullest near the bottom.

  5. Step 5: Three top feathers

From the head, draw a tall petal up behind the crown and back down. Add one leaning out each side.

  6. Step 6: Four side feathers

From each cheek draw a petal leaning out, back to the neck. Draw one from each shoulder too.

Tip Seven petals the same length make a big half circle fan.

  7. Step 7: Two wings

Start on each shoulder. Draw a long leaf down the tummy to a point, then back up.

  8. Step 8: Legs and feet

From the tummy draw 2 short legs down, each ending in 3 fat toes fanning out.

  9. Step 9: Feather eyes

In each feather's round end draw a teardrop pointing at the tummy, with a little egg inside. Do all 7.

  10. Step 10: The ground

Draw one long ground line under the toes, from below the left feathers to below the right feathers.

  11. Step 11: Yellow beak and feet

Colour the beak, legs, feet and every eye-spot ring yellow.

  12. Step 12: Blue peacock

Colour the head, crown teardrops and tummy blue, around the wings. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Green tail, dark wings

Colour all 7 feathers green around the eye-spots. Colour the eggs and both wings dark blue. Your peacock is done!
