How to Draw a Kalimba
Draw a kalimba in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the wooden board.
Step 1: The wooden board
In the middle draw a tall board with straight sides, a flat top and soft round bottom corners.
Tip A kalimba is a little wooden board you hold in both hands.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Low on the board draw 2 big egg eyes, 1 eye apart. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, and a small flat oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 4: The bar
Near the top of the board draw a thin flat bar across, a little in from each side.
Step 5: The metal keys
Draw 7 thin keys. Each starts on the bar. The middle one stops highest, the ends stop lowest.
Step 6: Key tails
Below the bar draw 7 short tails, one under each key. Start on the bar and stop just below it.
Step 7: Music notes
Up in the air on each side draw a music note, a round dot with a stick and a flag.
Step 8: Sparkles
Out beside the board, level with the eyes, draw a little sparkle star on each side.
Step 9: Table and shadow
Draw a table line under the board from left to right, and a flat oval shadow where the board sits.
Step 10: Yellow and pink
Colour the 2 sparkles yellow and the cheeks pink.
Step 11: Grey keys and shadow
Colour the keys, the bar and the shadow grey.
Step 12: Wood board
Colour the board wood brown, around the face, bar and keys. Leave the eyes white. Colour the notes black.
Tip Go over your lines, and your kalimba is ready to pluck!
