How to Draw a Newsboy Cap
Draw a newsboy cap in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the puffy crown.
Step 1: The puffy crown
In the middle of your paper draw a wide puffy pillow, more than twice as wide as it is tall.
Tip A newsboy cap is soft and puffy, with a short brim at the front.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the crown draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, and a small oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 4: The band
Under the crown draw a thin band with short, soft sides and a flat bottom.
Step 5: The brim
From the band's bottom near its right end, curve a brim under the crown, out and down to a point.
Tip Rub out the band's corner inside the brim.
Step 6: The button
On the very top of the crown draw a small round button.
Step 7: Seams
From the button draw 4 curved seams: 2 to the band beside the face, 2 to the crown's edge.
Step 8: Table line
Draw a table line along the bottom of the band and brim, from left to right.
Step 9: Twinkles
Draw a little four-point twinkle in the air at each side of the cap.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, tan button
Go over your lines. Colour the cheeks pink and the button tan.
Step 11: Light brown crown
Colour the crown and band light brown around the eyes, cheeks and button. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Dark brown brim
Colour the brim dark brown. Your newsboy cap is done!
