How to Draw a Nest
Draw a nest in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the nest bowl.
Step 1: The nest bowl
Below the middle draw a wide round bumpy bowl. Join its 2 top corners with a bumpy smile.
Step 2: The back rim
Draw a bumpy rainbow from one rim end to the other. Add a second bumpy smile below, side to side.
Tip The 2 smile lines make the rim look thick.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the nest's front draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a white shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile. Draw a small flat oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 5: Three eggs
Draw 3 eggs peeking over the rim, pointy ends up. The middle one is tallest.
Tip Only the tops of the eggs show above the rim.
Step 6: Egg speckles
Dot each egg with 3 tiny solid speckles, spread out like a robin's egg.
Step 7: Twig lines
Low on the nest draw 2 curved twig lines from side to side, one under the other.
Step 8: Poking twigs
Poke a long forked twig up from the rim on the right, and a short twig out on the left.
Step 9: The branch
Under the nest draw a branch, round on the left, pointed on the right. Add a leaf near the tip.
Step 10: Light brown nest
Go over your lines. Colour the nest and its 2 twigs light brown, going around the eyes and cheeks.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Sky eggs, pink cheeks
Colour the 3 eggs sky blue, going around the speckles, and the cheeks pink.
Step 12: Green leaf, brown rim
Colour the leaf green. Colour inside the rim and the branch brown, around the eggs. Your nest is done!
